Our story

Who we are

A multilingual translation services agency, Brightlines Translation was born back in 1999. We work closely with businesses of all shapes and sizes; many global brands you will know, and lots of great niche brands you might not.

Our UK headquarters is in Corsham, Wiltshire. A town famed for its beauty, where Poldark was filmed and peacocks roam free. We’ve offices in London and New York too. And with a worldwide network of 1,000s of expert linguists and sector specialists, we’re simply not fazed by the topic, target languages or translation project complexity.

Above all we care. We get to know your business intimately, its products and services – your goals become ours. The customer service you expect (and then some), the experience that fits best, and translation quality – that’s a given. Our clients trust us and it makes us glad.

How it all began

It’s the mid-nineteen nineties, Josian meets Neil. They share an interest in international business, design and typography. Brightlines Translation is founded to assure clarity of communication in any language.

Josian Phillips was a scientist at Public Health England. Becoming increasingly involved in international conferences and marketing, she became fascinated by the challenge of global communication.

Neil Gauld then running a design company that partnered with international advertising agencies, works with Josian by chance, on an international marketing project. The pair are recommended to a leading Norwegian ad agency.

Their first order? A 46-language translation project for the Norwegian government. The rest, as they say, is history.
